Change Requires A New Narrative

Over the past few weeks, we have witnessed a chorus of voices calling for change in light of the most recent acts of racial bias and violent hatred that led to the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and too many others.

As nonprofits and philanthropies have redoubled their efforts to communicate effectively about racial equity, some have found themselves struggling with where to begin. I know I have.

I recognize the privilege of my position as a white man, raising a white suburban family in a culture designed to cater to us. I recognize it, and yet I’m sure I can’t fully appreciate it. Words have always been my weapon for good. I’ve used language to persuade, to justify, to reveal, and to amplify. And now, I feel at a loss for words.

Perhaps this is a moment to put away my words and listen.

I want to share with you a few things I am listening to and invite you to share your own.

Adamec Communications is an ally to all those calling for change. And we will keep listening.
